Our Founder

Welcome to The Reading Engagement!

Kumiko, founder of The Reading Engagement

My name is Kumiko, and I am the founder. My journey into children's literacy began in a classroom in a child development center, in my home as a licensed childcare provider, in multiple states across the U.S., as a parent, and with the simple belief: every child deserves to discover the magic of a good story.

As an educator and a parent, I've seen firsthand how a book could light up a child's imagination and build lasting confidence. That is why I founded this program. Learning to read isn't just about looking at words on a page — it is about experiencing them.

At The Reading Engagement, we transform early literacy into a multi-sensory adventure. We know that babies, toddlers, and preschoolers learn best when their whole bodies and minds are involved. That is why our curriculum weaves foundational reading skills into a vibrant mix of art, science, movement, and sensory play.

Our mission is to foster a lifelong love of learning during your child's most critical developmental years. By blending traditional literacy milestones with joyful, interactive exploration, we help your little one build confidence, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.

We are so excited to partner with you and share the joy of The Reading Engagement!
